Our History
Our Past
United Community Heath Center (UCHC) was formed in 1984 as an offspring of Rural Health Office, College of Medicine at the University of Arizona. UCHC separated from the University in 1986. The UCHC parent organization began with the Continental Clinic (now Continental Family Medical Center), the Arivaca Clinic and the Three Points Clinic.
Our Present
United Community Health Center spent its first two decades providing basic primary healthcare in a part of Arizona that had little medical support service available and to a relatively small population that was mostly under or uninsured. These demographics began to change in a dramatic way about five years ago as people from outside the southwest began to realize that this is a great place to work and live. In addition, people relocating within the state have found that the Sahuarita and greater Green Valley area have the housing, job opportunities and recreational amenities that they want. Today United Community Health Center, like most healthcare organizations in the United States, work hard to ensure that all of our patients are well served, in well equipped surroundings and supported by a welcoming and capable staff.
Our Future
We expect to continue to have the challenges that rural environments present. We are putting in place the infrastructure that should enable United Community Health Center to meet future challenges and to continue providing our patients with quality healthcare in their home neighborhood. Through continued careful management, the help of federal, state and county grants, and the support of corporate and private entities and individuals, United Community Health Center will continue to be the place for quality healthcare for people and the communities we serve.
