A Message From Our CEO
On behalf of the UCHC Board of Directors and employees, I want to welcome you to our website. I am proud and honored to be leading this organization as we continue the legacy that started more than two decades ago.
Growth in our part of Arizona has been large and fast and all reports indicate this will continue. At the same time, as the US and world economies have struggled, our patients have felt the negative effects in significant ways. We have young families trying to make mortgage and rent payments, a large population of elderly living on fixed incomes and people of all ages losing their medical insurance.
United Community Health Center is committed to ensuring that everyone who needs primary healthcare, regardless of their age, insurance status and/or ability to pay have a welcoming place to come for support. This has been our mission for the past 25 years and will continue to be so into the future. Our core values have been the guiding lights leading us through the challenges that make up today’s healthcare business sector. These principles are:
- A commitment to comprehensive primary healthcare as a nonprofit organization.
- Delivery of “state of the art” quality services.
- Maximizing the continuity of care to ensure that a patient sees a provider as soon as possible, within the patient’s community, with no financial barriers.
- Ensuring the delivery of all our healthcare and education services is conducted with cultural respect.
- Our employees will maintain respectful and open communication with one another as well as with our patients.
- To target services based on knowledge of community needs.
- To take the extra step to give the personal touch by listening to our patients.
- To treat our patients as we would want to be treated . . . as family.
We have and will continue to take these principles seriously.
In today’s world we know that United Community Health Center cannot hold true to our mission unless we have the money to support it. We, like all other federally funded community health centers, are encouraged by the federal government to develop our private insurance patient base. Earned income from patients with private insurance augment the federal funds that we received through the HRSA 330 Grant Program. A major message that I would like you to understand is that United Community Health Center is available to everyone in our service area: The young and the old, the financially steady and those who are not, the insured, the under insured and those without insurance are all able to have quality primary healthcare in their own neighborhood. This is our goal and this we successfully provide.
